persecution because she refused to renounce Christianity. While imprisoned, she heard of additional torture suffered by other Catholics in the region, and prayed for relief. She died in prison shortly thereafter, but it is said a mark remained on the wall from where she had repeatedly traced the sign of the cross. She is the patron of Spain’s Archdiocese of Toledo, and a crypt said to house her relics is located in a church built on the site of her grave or birthplace.

What We Can Learn from Leocadia: Never be afraid to ask the Lord for help, even when you feel the burden He has asked you to carry is unbearable.
