Twice, I’ve started this Thomas Merton memoir, billed as “one of the most famous books ever written about a man’s search for faith and peace.” But then well, I got busy…
I ran across it in late May as I was cleaning my bookshelves, and I swear, this will be the time I finish it.
I finished Radical Saints last night. Main takeaway: how these women (who lived not long ago) persevered in faith. I got to see how it’s done in many different circumstances and with many different trials. But always the same faith, the same love, the same good God brought them through.
My husband and I picked up The Seven Story Mountain in a bookstore in Colorado Springs when we were driving to Denver for a meeting years ago. We took turns driving and the passenger read aloud. That book led us to become Catholics. I hope to re-read it again, soon.
Right now I’m re-reading for the umpteenth time Tell No Man by Adela Rogers St. John. I’ve read it many times and always find something new in it. My aunt introduced me to this book when I was in high school. It’s always a good read.
