On the Nightstand: Living in Wonder

I recently rewatched the classic comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and shared that on my personal Facebook account. A number of people weighed in with their favorite Ferris moments, and a side thread emerged via a friend, waxing poetic about Chicago in the 1980s, when we worked together at a trade magazine. We were both raised Catholic but not practicing any faith at that point. Since then, I’ve, well, you know, come back, and she is exploring, including doing Father Mike Schmitz’s Catechism in a Year podcast twice. She mentioned she’s reading Rod Dreher’s Living in Wonder, and a side-side thread on Rod followed! Don’t you love it when those moments happen?

I started–and, after 25 pages, gave up on–six different books in April. I don’t think that will happen with Living in Wonder. Here’s part of the back cover copy: “The world is not what we think it is. It is far more mysterious, exciting, connected, and adventurous.”

What’s on your nightstand?
