Seven years ago, I wrote a page-a-day devotional, Sisterhood of Saints: Daily Guidance and Inspiration. It was a privilege to get to know 366 women saints and blesseds (and research several hundred more) and relate their stories to our lives today. While I was writing it, I had the opportunity to hold a relic of Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first saint born in the United States. “Listen, and you will find your vocation,” she told me. And that’s what I’ve tried to do ever since.
I’ve written some other books in the interim, but always wanted to delve into the stories of the male saints. Franciscan Media, 
publisher of Sisterhood, agreed, and I’m excited to share that Brotherhood of Saints: Daily Guidance and Inspiration, comes out later this month. It includes 366 male saints, some you know, some you’ll want to get to know… apostles, Doctors (teachers) of the Church, husbands, fathers, hermits, lawyers, doctors, martyrs. They are men from every walk of life who lived their faith in ordinary and extraordinary ways. This book is especially special to me, because it’s dedicated to my uncles John T. and Craig Smith, who influence me in ways they are too humble to realize.
