Fall in Love

An occasional series based on stuff that hangs in my room… or my heart.

Fall in love.

I’ll bet that phrase brings a smile to your face about a current or past love, and maybe brings a faraway look to your eyes about that time you first laid eyes on the one, or you realized that someone who had been around for a while was the one. Because that’s how romantic love is for most of us, right, there is a one.

The man I thought was my one turned out not to be for a lot of reasons. Still, if he walked back in under the right circumstances, I have no doubt he could be my one here on earth. The thing was that somewhere along the line, it hit me like a ton of bricks that the Lord was really my one, and the earthly relationship was getting in the way of my path to Him. It didn’t happen overnight, but after some well-placed heavenly nudges, I found the inner faith to disengage. I suspect I’ll always have a place in my heart for the earthly one, but the Lord owns my soul… and my love.
