Favorite Liturgical Season?

newsletter_february2016_shutterstock_copyrightIt’s hard to believe Lent is just around the corner, I suppose because it’s so early this year.

Lent has always been my favorite liturgical season, even when I was a kid giving up candy bars or TV shows, even in the decades I was away from the Church. Even then, I loved it because of the promise of forgiveness, renewal, and redemption it brings (and, of course, spring!). Easter itself is a close second for me, but there’s something to be said about the waiting period that is Lent.

What’s your favorite liturgical season… and why?
